What if my child has never skated before?

This is the program for him/her. Most of our players start out the first few sessions on "walkers" which assist the child with balancing on the ice. Every year we try to have the kids skating unassisted (without the walkers) by the 3rd or 4th session.

What is the age for learn to play/skate?

Typically our learn to play/skate program is geared for boys and girls 5-7 year olds. Children younger and older may be allowed to participate also. We advise for younger children, if your child already has skated or you feel he can be on the ice without a parent comfortably, then yes, register him. Older children, less than 11 years old may also benefit from the program. However, older children often feel a little "old" as the program goes on. If an older child wants to continue, sometimes we may be able to place him on one of our 8U or 10U teams if room is available.

How much does it cost?

Our learn to skate program costs $275 for the season. A $100 deposit will hold your spot and full payment is due prior to the third session. Once payment is made, you will see your child's name on the roster. Sorry, no refunds after the third session. A partial refund is available after the third session with approval from the board.

What equipment does my child need?

All participants in all of our programs need to have full equipment. That consists of a certified hockey helmet with mask, shoulder pads, ice hockey skates, hockey pants (shorts), knee and elbow pads, groin protection, gloves, mouth piece and a stick. For our learn to skate program, the above listed equipment is recommended but necessary equipment to begin is a helmet with mask, gloves, ice skates, knee and elbow pads. A stick will be required after the first few sessions. Each participant receives a jersey. Hockey socks are also recommended.

Loaner equipment is available on a first come first serve basis by emailing

What is a USA Hockey number?

All of our players in all of our programs including the coaches must be registered with USA Hockey. USA hockey registration is an insurance provider for our organization and can be completed by clicking on this link USA Hockey Registration
